Commander Joseph Lawrence was bid bon voyage in the penultimate episode of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale last month, but now Bradley Whitford has landed a new gig: First Gentleman to Allison Janney’s freshly appointed president of the United States in the third season of The Diplomat, debuting this fall on Netflix. The series also stars Keri Russell in the eponymous role and Rufus Sewell as her quasi-estranged husband.

Whitford and Janney are, of course, no strangers to the White House, having both starred in Aaron Sorkin’s acclaimed political drama The West Wing from 1999 to 2006. “I love Keri. I love Rufus. And I hear Allison Janney is good at acting too,” Whitford quips in the press release for the show.

The teaser trailer for the new season of The Diplomat sees Whitford bringing his patented brand of dry wit to the role of Todd Penn. Todd joins his wife, Vice President Grace Penn, in the Oval Office after she, in a truly absurd cliffhanger at the end of season two, is given a promotion.
