Have you ever wondered if Gareth Evans dreams of puppies and rainbows? If so, the official trailer for the filmmaker’s latest, Havoc, is here to put that question to rest. The film stars Tom Hardy as an, of course, bruised detective fighting his way through an underworld of shady types. Sound familiar? Well, given that Evan’s awesome breakout film The Raid: Redemption is considered to have significantly influenced the John Wick series, it’s difficult not to glean from Havoc’s trailer that the film is some kind of reverse pat on the back.
According to Netflix’s official synopsis accompanying the trailer, the film finds Hardy’s Walker, following a drug deal gone wrong, “with a number of factions on his tail; a vengeful crime syndicate, a crooked politician, as well as his fellow cops. When attempting to rescue the politician’s estranged son, whose involvement in the drug deal starts to unravel a deep web of corruption and conspiracy, he is forced to confront the demons of his past.”
The film, a promise of ultraviolent mayhem, also stars Jessie Mei Li, Justin Cornwell, Quelin Sepulveda, Luis Guzmán, Michelle Waterson, Sunny Pang, Jim Caesar, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Yeo Yann Yann, Timothy Olyphant, and Forest Whitaker.

Havoc drops on Netflix on April 25.
