To celebrate the fifth anniversary of her fourth studio album, How I’m Feeling Now, Charli XCX has dropped a new music for the track “Party 4 U,” which has seen a resurgence in popularity after going viral on TikTok. Earlier this month, the single made a belated debut on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

In a letter posted to her Instagram yesterday, Charli shared her feelings about How I’m Feeling Now, which was recorded and released at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the surprise success of “Party 4 U”: “It was all of us at our most raw, our most stripped, our most vulnerable. I will never forget it, and I really can’t believe that 5 years later one of the angel favorites is having its own special moment.”

Directed by Mitch Ryan, the lo-fi video for “Party 4 U” sees Charli leaving the site of a house party the next morning, stripping off her heels and dress, and defacing a billboard emblazoned with her face. Emphasis on blaze.
